The first Screaming Trees release was their 1986 demo, initially released exclusively as a cassette on Velvetone Records. From what I am told, this was limited to 1,000 copies. It feels as though there could not have been that many, as it was insanely difficult to find for many years. As more of these have turned up, it has become clear that there were several different cassette shell/label combinations: black shell with orange labels, black shell with green A-side/white b-side labels, white shell with white labels, and clear shell with white labels. This used to be nearly impossible to find, but a few have started to appear for sale with more regularity, and the price has come way down accordingly. For valuation purposes, I am lumping all of the Velvetone cassette versions together - collectors don't seem to be differentiating much at this stage.
Other Worlds was later reissued by SST Records as SST 105 in 1988. The SST version had a completely different sleeve design. Many copies were on green vinyl. In fact, the black vinyl version seemed to be the rarer one for a long time (though still not very rare). It looks as though there was a black vinyl re-press within the last few years, so it has become much less rare and the price has plummeted.
