Come as You Are

Come as You Are: Nirvana mega-hit number 2. The story for this release is remarkably similar to that of Smells Like Teen Spirit. There were a bunch.

In the U.S., there was a jukebox 7" and a promo 12". The 7"s came in generic DGC sleeves and remain common. There were two label variants: one lists the label as David Geffen Company and the other calls it Geffen Records, Inc., the latter or which is much less common (as with Teen Spirit). Prices have been largely stable for these for the past few years, though I think collectors are beginning to recognize the relative rarity of the Geffen Records, Inc. variant. The 12" was on black vinyl and came in a plain white sleeve with a label on it. Prices for that one have remained consistent for a few years.

In Europe, there were several vinyl releases. Versions of the picture sleeve 7" came out in the UK, Germany, Spain, and France. The UK 7" was released with both silver painted/molded labels and black paper labels. There was also a jukebox version of the 7" with unpainted labels, and that one is rarer (though it is the least expensive, which I don't understand). European 12"s came out in the UK, Germany, and Spain. In the UK and Germany, there were black vinyl 12"s in picture sleeves and also picture discs. The A sides of the UK and German picture discs were very similar, but the B sides were totally different. Here are some Euro-charts:

Outside of the U.S. and Europe, there were a few other interesting variants. Promo 7"s came out in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Venezuela. There was also a Brazilian 12". These are all tough finds and generally very expensive.

In 2011, a black 10" was released in the U.S., included in the Nevermind - The Singles set. I've seen it sold separately a few times.
