Tupelo TUPEP8 12" / TUP CD8 CD, released 1989 (UK)

Classic UK-only EP release on Tupelo. The last two tracks, "Been a Son" and "Stain", had not been released before thie EP came out. It was the only official place to find any version of those tracks for a couple of years. A live "Been a Son" came out on the Lithium single, and then studio versions of both were released on Incesticide ("Been a Son" was a different recording).

This one came out as a black vinyl 12" and a CD. Both were heavily counterfeited, so beware. It is not difficult to identify fake 12"s. As far as I know, none of them have been on black vinyl. There were all sorts of colors and a picture disc...those are all fakes. So if you have a black one, odds are it is legit. If you want to be sure, take a look at the matrix codes: MPO TUPEP 8 A^ / MPO TUPEP 8 B^. These should be in uppercase lettering. The fake CD is a bit tougher to spot. The matrix on the real one was TUP CD 8 MPO 01 @@. One of the fakes had this as well, but word is the lettering was smaller (yes, I realize this does you little good unless you have a real one to compare). The print quality on the fakes was also generally a lot crappier.

The prices for the 12" have risen steadily since 2019.
